DOHERTY EARNS 15,000 POUNDS FOR PRIVATE GIG

Pete Doherty is £15,000 better off after a Californian tycoon - who lives up to the old adage of having more money than sense - paid that ludicrous amount to see the Babyshambles man do a private performance in his living room.

And for the pleasure of being paid far too much to do a little gig, Pete was seven hours late. But he did have a good reason.

Namely, he was too blazed to perform to the hapless Ritchie Rich.

"The gig went really well. It was really nice. I got to try out lots of new material," said Pete to The Sun.

“These people were real aficionados. They certainly know their stuff. Everything I played went down really well, from old songs all the way through to my new stuff which no one's heard.

“They were a really nice couple as well. They've got three children and it was just nice all round, all for a bit of pocket money.”

By the state of his clothes usually it looks like he could do with the extra pocket money. Although we're guessing that there are probably some more combustible consumables at the top of his list.

But these punters must have been smarting a bit when they found out that Pete did a private gig for a fan for just £100 only a couple of weeks ago. Nice to see the credit crunch isn't affecting our Peat.
