USHER NONSENSE

Singer Usher has denied that by naming his son after himself he is going on a huge ego trip. Certainly he's not as bad as Michael Jackson who only stopped naming his kids Prince Michael when he ran out of children, but Usher is adamant that Usher Raymond V is a fine name for a tiny baby.

"He's called Usher because he looks so much like me. He looks so much like me it would have been hard to call him anything else. It was the obvious choice. It's really changed me for the better, he's a great kid."

So nothing to do with ego then? Well, it's not like a star would give a child a ridiculous name to attract attention, is it (though we can forgive Jermaine Jackson for the sheer inventiveness of naming his son 'Jermajesty')?

Let's just hope that Usher's act of naming the newborn child after what it looks like doesn't catch on, or there'll be a hell of a lot of 'Winston Churchill' and 'George Dawes's populating primary schools in a few years time.
