Actor
Nicolas Cage has launched legal action against
Kathleen Turner over allegations she is making in her upcoming autobiography '
Send Yourself Roses'. The actress accuses Cage of being difficult on set, being arrested for drunk driving and of stealing a Chihuahua dog that caught his fancy one day.
Lies, all lies, says Cage, with his usual eye-rolling hammery, launching a lawsuit where others might have a damn good laugh about such ridiculous allegations, solely made to sell a second-rate book by an almost-forgotten star. Well, Turner is back in the news now, isn't she, so well done Nic for gleefully grabbing the bait and getting reeled in.
Turner says that the actor behaved badly on the set of the 1986 film 'Peggy Sue Got Married' in order to show he was a bit of a rebel and hadn't just got the part because his uncle, Francis Ford Coppola, was the director. The allegations of drunk-driving and Chihuahua bothering follow closely, and Nicolas and his lawyers are not amused.
"The libel action follows false allegations that appear in the forthcoming autobiography. As legal proceedings have been commenced, it would be inappropriate to comment further."
Due to the prohibitive libel law in this country, Cage chose to launch the proceeding is London's High Court, so we'll all be able to sit back and watch this idiot-fest unfold in front of our very eyes. And the first newspaper to use the headline 'Chihuahua-Gate' should be very ashamed of themselves indeed.
