Music lovers the world over raised a cheer when it was announced that Mick Jagger was to duet with John Lennon. Cheers turned to groans, however, when many realised the song was years old and Jagger was still breathing.
The duo recorded 'Too Many Cooks (Spoil The Soup)' in Los Angeles in
1973, and the track also features Ringo Starr thrashing his way around
a drum kit like a knight in armour falling down a long and very
irregular staircase.
All this has come to light as the promotion for a new album, 'The Very
Best Of Mick Jagger', starts to kick in. The album is not, as it should
be, mercifully brief (well, you name a Mick Jagger solo hit) but
stretches to an ear-bleeding 17 tracks, including a duet with Bono.
Mick Jagger duetting with Bono. Christ, how much do I not want to hear that.
