Kiefer Sutherland is due to be
released today after serving a 48-day sentence for drink-driving. Despite spending Christmas and New Year behind bars the actor has been praised by prison staff for his attitude whilst inside. He was actually sentenced to 30 days, with another 18 days added due to him still being on parole from a previous arrest in 2004 for... drink driving.
Kiefer has been working in the prison laundry, cleaning sheets and pillowcases amongst other things.
John Balian, a local police officer hitched up his belt, spat out some chewing tobacco and smoothed his moustache before revealing,
"He was very humble, never complained. He didn't give us any problems at all."
And he could have, you know. One mobile phone smuggled in and the prison would have been a smoking ruin before the hour was up. It's not really a surprise that he's just got on with things as he seems like a pretty OK bloke. Quite a difference from the quacking and crying that saw Paris Hilton seemingly traumatised for life when she spent the best part of an afternoon in a cell. Another difference is that I'm glad to see Kiefer released.
