STICKY FINGERS

John C. Reilly, the delightful actor with a face like a shredded cabbage has revealed to Maxim US the lengths he went to in preparation for his appearance in grot-fest 'Boogie Nights', the film about the last days of celluloid in the porn industry in which he starred as the Kung-Fu tastic Reed Rothschild alongside Mark Wahlberg's Dirk Diggler.

Purely for educational reasons, Reilly decided to visit the set of an actual porn film, just to check the camera layouts, the lighting and all that, but the actor was left with a certain sticky residue clinging to his body, and it certainly wasn't egg on his face.

"We walk onto one porn set and this guy is giving this girl the business... It's a gruesome scene. "Then the guy recognizes me, says, 'John C. Reilly! I'm such a huge fan!' and goes to shake my hand. I'm like, 'Oh God,' and he's like, 'Don't worry! I was using the other hand!"

"But he wasn't." Mmm, nice.

Reilly is one of the best actors around at the moment, and it's nice to see a Hollywood star who can actually laugh at himself for a change. Can you imagine Tom Cruise telling an anecdote like this, or even Wahlberg himself? Hmm, not really.

If Wahlberg did any research for the film it was more likely to be at the local lumber yard, because his diggler was the least wooden part of his performance.
