The strike by the
Writer's Guild of America is certainly hitting home, and affecting some more than others. The
Golden Globes became the Golden Balls-Up without the men behind the scenes who write the actors' carefully-scripted ad-libs and some stars are remaining tight-lipped in public, scared of revealing that they are actually unable to speak without a printed script before them and their motivation carefully explained.
Not so
Joaquin Phoenix, winner of the People's Choice award for Favorite (sic) Leading Man. In this clip he makes a witty point (in a Dylan style) about the importance of the writers to the actors out there. 'I'm Joaqin?'
Four possibilities.
1. He's actually a funny laidback guy, making a pun on the word 'joking'.
2. He can't spell his own name.
3. He's so drunk that he thinks he's in his bathroom playing poker with a six-foot rabbit.
4. He got one of his minions to write the cards for him. Which brings us back to the importance of writers...
