Ike Turner's widow Jeanette has wiped her eyes and nose and declared to the world that he was a good man and much misunderstood, which is surely the rallying cry of the abused around the world.
Tina Turner was obviously emotional and heartbroken after the death of her psychopathic ex-husband, as the beautifully-worded heartfelt announcement on her website reveals after Ike's death last Wednesday.
"Tina hasn't had any contact with Ike for more than 35 years. No further comment will be made." Sniff. It really gets you there, doesn't it? Now here comes Jeanette to set the record straight about what a stand up (and knock down) fellow Ike really was and how Tina should maybe forgive all those batterings and drunken rages.
"I know that she was hurt. But there's something called forgiveness and I know Ike really forgave himself, which is really hard to do." Well, that was certainly big of him, though clearly an apology was beyond the man himself.
"He was a human being and he helped Tina... he helped a lot of people."
Well, she's right there. He certainly did help Tina. Into casualty on many occasions. Expect a thick-legged grandmotherly-type to be performing that odd dance across a certain grave in the near future.
