Director
Spike Lee and living fossil
Clint Eastwood are currently
embroiled in a disagreement and have decided to settle the matter like real men, by whining to the media. First to produce his handbag was Spike who moaned that Eastwood failed to include any black soldiers in the flag-raising scene of the Iwo Jima film 'Flags Of Our Fathers'...
I didn't notice as I was heartily asleep after the first few minutes to be honest, but it could have something to do with the fact that no black soldiers actually participated in the actual event (as Clint recently pointed out to The Guardian).
Clint, famed for his dazzling wit and quick sense of humour was having none of this young upstart's comments and responded with some wise words.
"A guy like him should shut his face."
Ouch! Zing! Take that, Spike. Well, Lee isn't fazed by such wit and badinage and decided to thunder along on his moral high horse, producing the race card.
"First of all, the man is not my father and we're not on a plantation either. He's a great director... I didn't personally attack him. And a comment like "A guy like that should shut his face," come on Clint, come on. He sounds like an angry old man right there."
Come on, guys, sort this out before it gets interesting. I'd like to see them locked in a room with a large man banging their heads together. Forever.
