Chris Rock lost some of that famous sense of humour last week when he was informed (on the South African leg of his comedy tour) that he would be facing a court in the country to answer
charges of sleeping with a minor during the British section of his tour.
The South African Prosecuting Authority spokesman explained:
"Information got to him that the South African Police Service was going to arrest him. Acting on that information he quickly approached lawyers who brought an urgent application at the Johannebsurg High Court where judgement was in his favour."
The judge declined to issue an arrest warrant as there was no proof and no formal charges, much to the disappointment of the head prosecutor, who just happened to be an actor for a US prank show.
You see,
it was all a big joke, intended to panic Chris. Quite reasonably, the South African courts are less than impressed with this occurrence. The show in question has not yet been named and no one has yet come forward to admit to the highly-planned prank (no doubt they're working on an idea where they pretend to be doctors and tell a star that they have inoperable cancer).
I do hope it's the work of the hilarious Ashton Kutcher and you'd imagine that Chris, humourous man that he is, won't be too happy with this brand of jollity. And it'd be lovely to see a bloodied Ashton bending over and picking up his teeth one by one as Rock delivers a hammering and informs him he's been Punk'd.
