Chris Langham has given his first interview (to Sky news) since he was released from prison after being found guilty of downloading child porn. Repentant? Ready to hold his hands up and admit he was a bad boy? None of it. He graciously admitted that he has done wrong but
denied strongly that he was a paedophile, using the classic defence which has now become known as 'The Townshend'.
"There is an assumption that if you look at images like this, therefore you must have a sexual interest in children and it's an odd logic because..." Wait, let me interrupt him there. It's an odd logic, is it? Did the Pamela Anderson tape get downloaded millions of times because people wanted to research her pubic grooming or be shown how to steer a boat with an erect penis? So why is this an "odd logic" Chris?
"It's an odd logic because one of the reasons I wanted to write about it was that I passionately care about the welfare of children."
So do I, Chris, that's why I don't pay money to paedophile sites to download their monstrous images.
By the way, where's that Pete Townshend book we were promised?
'The Thick Of It' is still genius though, here's the beginning of the first episode (if you've got ten minutes to kill)...
