Beyonce Knowles has cancelled an upcoming
gig in Malaysia, saying that there's been a slight mix up in her diary and that she and her huge entourage (and arse) just happened to have double booked that night with a wedding reception in Skelmersdale.
Nothing at all, then, to do with that country's strict Islamic dress code and the government order which states that female artists are to be covered up from the neck to the knees, which makes virtually every item in Beyonce's wardrobe (apart from her nightgown) illegal in that region.
This follows the recent decision by Gwen Stefani to perform in Malaysia whilst dressed as an Amish widow, so as not to upset the locals, though there were several reports of disgust at her scantily-socked ankles.
Beyonce's decision to cancel her first ever concert in the country has fans frustrated at their country's draconian dress laws, but perhaps Malaysians should look on the bright side.
It's one way of making sure that the Spice Girls never enter your airspace. Not a bad idea at all, in fact.
