ANTHONY MINGHELLA DIES AT 54

Anthony Minghella, the Academy Award-winning English film director, has died at the age of 54.

Minghella's death has been confirmed by his agent, Judy Daish. The cause of death is not yet known.

Anthony Minghella was perhaps most famously known for the British film, The English Patient. His most recent film is 'The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency' which is to be released at Esater.
 

Update: Anthony Minghella died after suffering from a brain hemorrhage after a routine operation on his neck at the Charing Cross hospital in London.

Anthony Minghella was married to choreographer Carolyn Choa and had two children.

Did you know he started out writing Grange Hill and then moved onto Jim Henson's the Storyteller? So he played a major part in our childhoods too.
