Good old Mitch Winehouse. As his daughter battles whatever demons she's ingesting this week, her father remains the soul of discretion, working tirelessly behind the scenes to get his daughter back on track. Then running off to talk to the media, because he has suddeny realised that he loves seeing his big grubby face on TV.
Now he's revealed his opinions on how Amy became addicted to hard drugs. So who's to blame? The Afghan poppy farmers? The man in the moon? Well, it's certainly not the parents, is it?
Oddly enough, this point of view wasn't put to him when he appeared on 'This Morning', famous for its Paxman-like cross-examinations to point the finger at anyone apart from the people who brought Amy up.
Well, actually he did pinpoint one person. And here's a masterclass in how to stick the boot in whilst smiling through gritted teeth.
"It's apparent in her music that she's smoked dope for quite a while, probably from the age of 16 or 17, perhaps even earlier," said the brilliant parent. "She was a complete opponent of hard drugs. In fact, she got up and said she couldn't understand why people in the music industry took hard drugs." So far so dull, but here comes the punch.
"But that changed about six months ago when she got married to Blake. And I'm not saying its Blake's fault, what I'm saying is Amy's responsible for her own actions. However, it's a fact that the hard drugs coincided with their marriage."
No shit Sherlock. And who says the parents are always the last to know?
