Amina Taylor Who wrote a Guardian article about the criticism of Jay-Z headlining Glastonbury, and insinuating it's racist...Here are a couple of quotes..."It's disappointing, because music fans - and festivalgoers in particular - usually go out of their way to try to outdo one another in the obscure music-taste stakes." Jay-Z? Obscure?! Then she completely loses all credibility with, "As a black woman, I have always looked at the sheer whiteness of an event like Glastonbury and wondered what the attraction was. Sure, I enjoy a few bars of Coldplay, but would I risk a mudslide to see Chris Martin and co?"...Coldplay??!! Really fucking cutting edge and obscure! I don't give a fuck who plays Glastonbury, but it's not because he's black..He is not a legend and not that popular to justify being top of the bill... the average festival goer knows so much more about music than you, Amina Taylor, so shut the fuck up.

She is only insinuating that she is a racist and a cunt. Quite brave I say.
ComradeDuch on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
You sort of have a point but I saw Public Enemy at the Reading festival years ago and they were very popular, and still are in my household. I imagine if NWA reformed (minus Eazy-E) they'd pull in huge festival crowds. It's more about festival headline acts have to have huge, anthemic numbers, ideally to yell along to or wave your lighters in the air. And Amina - the attraction was because you weren't there, you paid-by-the-line gobshite
Fabio on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
He's pretty popular you fucking idiot
onthefence on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
It's got nothing to do with the headline act and more that it's always a complete washout. Who wants to sit in a field in the pissing rain for 4 days? Hardly left my tent on the Sunday last year, couldn't be arsed with it all anymore.

Amina Taylor = Cunt. OP = Uber cunt. Jay-Z = Legend.

I'll be sitting nice and comfy in my Parker Knoll with a nice crate of British Ale by my side (may turn over when the 'not yet a fucking' legend ji-zee is on though.
MrsMoon on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
Jay-Z is not a legend...Surely you must be dead first to aquire such status?
enoch powell on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
Very kind of you to say so , Mrs. M .
KenBoonsmotorbike on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
I'm with Enoch Powell on this one (never thought I'd ever say that!) - It's all a load of tosh really - Yup I'm one of those "I went in the 90's and it never rained once (really!) and it ain't the same anymore" cunts- all about money and big corporations nowadays. Jay-Z? Honestly! It looks like he's going to shit it anyway and we'll all be saved!
FrenchDuke on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
Who gives a shit - I am going to so off my tits I wont care who is playing. I saw Coolio at Phoenix 96 and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. I am told.
ChunkyMunky on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
It can be arranged, Mrs M...*rummages in cupboard under the stairs for length of 4x2 with nails in the end* Hmm so what this lefty cuntpot is saying is that it's racist not to like Jay-Z??? He's plop at best compared to the true titans of hip-hop like Public Enemy who had a hell of a lot more to say than merely flaunt the price of their shit clothes and jewellery.
Hashishin on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
want me to get the cunt?
enoch powell on Wed 16 April 2008 said...

ChunkyMunky on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
Go on my son, although you might need to lose the roland rat costume to sneak up on him?
KenBoonsmotorbike on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
Get him Roland! They can then replace him with the Goombay Dance Band
MrsMoon on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
Chunk, i agree, NWA and Public Enemy were pioneers who had something important to say, this current crop are just self obsessed areholes going on about how great they are...And don't get me started on every single fucking hip hop video.... car, girls, car, hideously ostentacious house, scantily clad girl touchy rapper suggestively, rowing with his bitch, she walks off, more girls....Fuck off my screen!! Do something original, fucking cretins.
ilovemrsmoon on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
I don't read the Guardian or go to Glastonbury because I'm not a middle class liberal. I therefore do not give a rat's wank about Jay-Z headlining. I'm glad it's pissing people off though, one way or another. Did anybody see Daphne and Celeste at Reading in '98? It was glorious...
MrsMoon on Wed 16 April 2008 said...

That would be Althea, Mrs M.
KenBoonsmotorbike on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
Let's go for a retro festival - Department S, Kenny Loggins and Jonny hates Jazz will easily make me part with £1000 or however much it costs for a Glastonbury ticket these days.

Saturday Pyramid Stage Headline Act: Curiousity Killed The Cat supported by Deacon Blue, Fine Young Cannibles, Maroon 5, Dr Hook, Jim Diamond (especially for KenBoon), Brother Beyond, Morris Minor and The Majors, MC Hammer. Tickets 300 quid from ticketmaster.co.uk
KenBoonsmotorbike on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
I think we're onto something here Mrs Moon. I know that fat, long haired cunt on Channel 4 does something similar but I reckon we could indeed kill Glastonbury off in one go! Then we wouldn't have to worry about them having vacuous, self obsessed shit hoppers headlining anymore. I myself would also like to put forward Modern Romance & Racey to headline the main stage on the Friday night. Anybody else???
ChunkyMunky on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
throw some Stock Aitken and Waterman musical excrement against the walls and my descent into Hades will be complete.
KenBoonsmotorbike on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
It's all coming together nicely people - I wonder if the BBC would be up for screening 600 hours of live footage? I'm sure News 24 would if it was a 'slow news' day. Maybe we could also glue Michael Eavis' head back on the right way??
ComradeDuch on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
Kim Wilde, Strawberry Switchblade, Hue and Cry, the Blow Monkeys and Mantronix on the main stage. And on the comedy stage should be Jimmy Cricket, Duncan Norville and that man who wore white gloves and said 'spook'
KenBoonsmotorbike on Wed 16 April 2008 said...
Good one Comrade, Kwebb & Chunky - also Les Dennis, Little & Large & Jonny Carr - all extremely unfunny cunts

I used to go to Glastonbury, when it was free-straight after Stonehenge. Can't remember fuck all,though-except detonating my GSX1100 one year because I was tripping too much and forgot to put oil in the fucker. Also have vague recollections of being herded into a field at Shipton Bellinger with a load of others and being beaten senseless by the rozzers. They were rotten cunts, them.

Glad everybody has stopped having a go at Mantronix - King of the Beats is still a very good Hip Hop tune although point taken on the rest of his stuff. Maybe we could tempt Howard Jones and his weird dancing mate out of retirement?
RandySpooge on Thu 17 April 2008 said...
I am praying that Jay-z plays glasto. I can't wait to see his entourage react to the bottles of piss flying at the stage. Awesome. Plus he looks like he's got down syndrome if every fucking picture.

SlipperyGimp on Thu 17 April 2008 said...
Mrs Moon, your large comment is spot on. When I started liking hip hop, it was embarassing to admit it. Nowadays, every fucker 'likes' it, probably because of the "bitches, bulnts & 40's" image that the commercial bollocks is all about. Party Scene by The Russell Brothers is still one of my all time favourite tunes - it was off Electro 2 on the Streetsounds label. Heard of that, JayZ fans? Thought not. Anyway, he shouldn't be at Glastonbury full stop. It'll see an influx of chavs who'll turn up to rob your tent, not genuine music fans.
MrsMoon on Thu 17 April 2008 said...
Slippery, ah, yes, i used to raid my brother's electro records collection, 'Here comes that beat' with the smashing glass sounds, who the fuck was that by? I'm sure that was on electro. Been bothering me for years...anyone know?

ive actually met a few of the old skool legends you guys are talking about in the last month (music journo) and brought this up with them. Unsuprisingly they also think of glasto as a white middle class event (which it is i guess) and two i met recently will verify Jay-z status as a legend (hard to argue with Big daddy Kane and africa bambaataa). so i understand where she's coming from. plus i want to sleep with her but thats another thing.
